Mine and Concentrator
Construction of a 6000 tonne-per day integrated mine and concentrator at the Voisey’s Bay site in Labrador was completed in November 2005. The estimated capital cost of these facilities was Cdn $950 million. The facilities support the mining and processing of ore from the Voisey’s Bay deposits and produce two types of concentrate; a copper concentrate, and a nickel-cobalt-copper concentrate.
The construction phase of the mine and concentrator generated employment for about 5000 people.The operations workforce in Labrador is approximately 450 people.
