Employment

Operations at the mine and concentrator in Voisey’s Bay began in 2005. Operations at the demonstration plant began 2005 and were concluded in June 2008. Approximately 450 people are employed at the mine and concentrator and approximately 300 people are supporting the engineering/planning for the Long Harbour Processing Plant. Initial work on the processing plant began in April 2009 and construction is expected to wrap up in February 2013. Construction activity at the processing plant will create about 5,750 person-years of employment. Operations at the processing plant will employ approximately 450 people.
